On Wednesday, February 3, at 10:00 p.m., Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 will be remotely deployed to all university-owned and managed Microsoft Windows workstations. It is requested that all Fordham employees leave their workstations on overnight so the computer can reboot to complete the update.

Microsoft will only develop security updates for Internet Explorer (IE), version 11, the most current version. Internet Explorer versions 7, 8, 9 and 10 on most operating systems are no longer supported.

Should any compatibility problems within IE be encountered one can:

    • Select Tools from the file menu or click on the Settings “gear” icon in the top right corner of IE 11.
    • Select the Compatibility View settings item in the drop-down menu. A dialog will appear.
    • Enter the site one wishes to load with Compatibility View in the Add this website field and click Add  (e.g., fordham. edu).
    • Click Close to exit the Compatibility View Settings window.
